CMAC'S Registered Babydolls, Southdowns & Shropshires

Building a sheep empire one ewe at a time

FOR SALE
This black Olde English Babydoll ram was born Feb. 10, 2010. He's pictured here on April 21, 2010. He was too busy playing with his lamb friends in the hay pile to pose for a decent photo. He's pictured above at 10 days old.
Registered Olde English Babydoll Southdowns for sale.

White ram born Feb. 5, 2010 – pictured above on April 21, 2010. Black ram born Feb. 10, 2010. The lambs are weaned and available immediately. The cost is $350 with half the cost due at the time of reservation and the remaining balance due at pick up. These lambs will be registered with Robert Mock's Babydoll registry. Contact me at cynthiasue@huskers.unl.edu, or 785-541-0100 if you are interested in purchasing one. Or call 785-778-2878 and leave a message.

I am now taking
reservations for 2011.

I will have Shropshire, American Southdown and Olde English 'Babydoll' Southdown ewe and ram lambs for sale in the spring of 2011. There is no deposit due to get your name on the list if you are potentially interested in lambs, although half the price of the lamb is due upon reserving a lamb. Potential buyers will be contacted when lambs are born and asked if they are still interested in purchasing lambs.

Shropshire and American Southdown lambs are $225, which includes Codon 171 testing, vet exam and health certificate for transportation out of state and registration papers.
Some lambs have both parents that are RR and do not need to be tested unless the buyer insists. Lambs with a mother that is a QR will be tested at about eight weeks of age.
All of my sires are RRs and my ewes are QR or RR.

I will also have some Olde English "Babydoll" Southdowns for sale. There should be both white lambs and black lambs. The sire is an RR.
RR ewe lambs are $550. All other ewe lambs are $500. RR ram lambs are $500. All other ram lambs are $350. Ask me about wethers. The price includes a vet exam and health certificate for those taking sheep out of state as well as registration papers from Robert Mock's Olde English Babydoll Miniature Southdown Sheep Registry for rams and ewe lambs. Lambs can have the Codon 171 test to determine their Scrapies susceptiblity at about eight weeks old if the buyer so chooses.

People can also buy crossbred ewe lambs if interested. These lambs would be Hampshire-Shropshire cross, Dorset-Shropshire cross, Rambouillet-Shropshire cross or American Southdown-Rambouillet cross. Lambs have to be reserved by April, 1, 2011. Crossbred lambs not picked up by May 1 will incur a feeding expense charge.

The ewes are expected to be bred to lamb between December 2010 and February 2011. Lambs are weaned at 65 days and put onto a creep feed ration to complete the weaning process. They would then be available for pick up. It is my intent to sell some Shropshires and American Southdowns in Sedalia, Mo., next summer.

Southdown genetics come from Wedel Southdowns in Moundridge, Kan., and from Tom Appel in Mountain, Lake, Minn.

Shropshire genetics come from Oklahoma, Ohio, and Missouri.

I test for the Codon 171 genetic marker that shows Scrapie susceptibility in sheep. My flock is primarily an RR flock with all sires being RR, although some ewes are QR. All Shropshire and American Southdown lambs will be QR or RR, and buyers can request only RR rams.

All lambs are located on the farm in Haddam, Kan., which is located in northeast Kansas. We are just over the Kansas/Nebraska line, or about 115 miles straight west of St. Joseph, Mo. one mile off U.S. Highway 36.

Check back to this website begining the first of the year as I will post pictures of ewes and lambs. Potential buyers can request photos of lambs they are interested in buying.
